- Founded in the year 1856, Thomas Burberry

- Basingstoke, England started off with a small outfitters shop.

- 1879 Thomas invented gabardine, a breathable fabric which was waterproof and durable, this became the start of Burberrys popularity.

- First trench coat designed, which the British army wore.

- The checks was included in the lining of the trench coat and became a trademark to Burberry.

Burberry not only sells womenswear, menswear however also kidswear. Although Burberry sells a variety of products the brand remains the same, keeping it simple and consistent throughout the products and signage.

Due to the brand being very clear, easy to read, classic and sophisticated with its use of being put on swing tags, signage, and website this has made Burberry become very known and remembered to consumers.

When the brand Burberry is looked at or even just thought of, it is often remembered and referred to, “checks, expensive, British, Trench, classy, beige and Emma Watson”. This is exactly what is portrayed through the brands swing tags and signage.









Current Interior Plans and Spaces

- The interior and exterior of the Sydneys Burberry store is quite a classic, as its layout and theme reflects on the brand itself. For instance the building would be considered too modern as its architectural and interior pieces reflect on royal and classy, which sets a different time frame.

- The ceiling is very symmetrical and very royal with its use of white skirting.
